FROM THE BROTHERHOOD
The Daleville Baptist Church
Brotherhood meeting Larry's restaurant
08:30 Saturday, 12 May 2012

Sometimes we arrive and wait for the Gideon's to finish their meeting; not today, we had the place to ourselves for a little while.  About half way into the meeting another group arrived ate and left and another group arrived and were there after we left.  Lots of people out this morning.  Everyone is talking about the weather, how, it;s going to rain, and hurry up and get to Wings parking lot to get your car washed by the youth.

I arrived just about 8:20. Some of the members were already in the meeting room.  Our Brotherhood Director Brother Jesse Lambert, Brothers Colvin Dixon, Stephen Crouch, Keith Potter and Ike Israel.  Brother Ike left shortly to be with Kathy who had come with him.  Others began to arrive, Our Pastor Brother Judson Waldrop, "Bro Jud"   and Brothers Russell Richardson, Charlie Wigglesworth, and Brother Thomas, "Tom" Walker.

If you're name is missing Brother Jesse said;  "You were missed!"   I did get mail from Brother Earl that he had other commitments.  I have a no hit on Brother Lee 'Tingey (NO Yahoo account) and Brother Leo Suiter, (Mail box full)  If I need to adjust or  use a different address let me know; cberry1@sw.rr.com

In no time we settled in and Brother Jesse Lambert called the meeting to order and Our Pastor Brother Judson Waldrop prayed and gave thanks for the provisions we were about to receive.  In no time Marty made sure we all had coffee and took orders from those who didn't go through the buffet line.  By this time food seemed to be on everyone's mind and the groceries were good; bacon or ham and eggs to order with biscuits, or pancakes just as long as a side order of grits was to be had.  Brother Russell was mixing it all up, ugh, Brother Jesse said, well, it all will get mixed up anyway. ha ha

Our Brotherhood Director Jesse Lambert turned to the message he had prepared. Leadership; a message about the law of influence and accountability; Highlights the servant leader in the Book of Micah.  A true leader will look after his people first. Good Job Jesse.  Well the conversation was about logging; motorcycling; fishing; boats and politics; take your pick.  HA HA.  It sure was nice to be out with you guys; Thanks for inquiring about how Anna and I are doing.  we still have a little bit of "queasy stomach but we are better and looking forward to being in Church tomorrow.

The meeting was special; good atmosphere; the food was great; Some of you missed a good-un; See you in the morning!

God Bless You and Yours Brother Carl

As usual we arrive early, sometimes with the ladies, (They going to the ladies meeting) and we sit and or stand around talk a bit while waiting for a room or for others to show.  It's no different this time, I take a couple of pictures and we chew the fat a bit and pretty soon Ricky assigns us to the big room on the left.

We crowded into the big Room on the left as if there wasn't much room.  Some one said,  "Plenty of room"  and they were right.  Any way, elbow room to eat!  In just a matter of minutes we had coffee, tea and water to go with all the other accoutrements , pickles onions and lemons.

Onion rings were ordered and Brother  Colvin Dixon took care of the administration details.  We stood, held hands and Brother Bill Filmore said the Grace;  Recognizing the Lord for the provisions and the beauty of the day. It wasn't long until with all the orders in that we settled down to the task of seeing who could out talk the other.  The food arrives and we continue fellowshipping or should I say continue the fellowship.  While sitting next to Brother Steve Crouch he explained a goal he has been working on;  lowering his weight to below 200 by his birthday in May and he announced his weight today was 198.  Great;  congratulations Steve!  Every one was about through eating and I took a picture, (Check the pictures) of the bunch.

Daleville Baptist Church Brotherhood
Participating in the 8th Annual Dale Baptist Association Swamp Cookout Held at John Hutto Park, Newton, Alabama
Saturday March 3, 2012

The day begins with our cooking crew assembling at the Church at 6:30 AM with plans to leave for John Hutto Park in Newton as soon as possible.  Other Church crews in the association who were going to participate were doing the same thing.  As you may know it was raining, the wind was blowing and the weather didn't look good.  Never the less our crew consisting of Colvin Dixon, Keith Potter, Chief cooks Neal Hardwick and Jesse Lambert (The Brotherhood Director), Dan Richardson and son Kyle and Jonathon Engstrom (Our Minister of Youth). left the Church in time for a AM setup at the Park.

The rain had quit about 7:30 and things were looking good, (Praise the Lord!)  tents were up for the assembly speaking and music.   Final preparations were being made and the cooking was going well.  I arrived at the park about 9:15.  Everything looked good, The music had started on time,(Picking and a grinning) and I proceeded to make the rounds and find out what each church was cooking and or had prepared.  (Trying to keep from getting my hands slapped. Ha)

Our crew was going strong, looks like they were going to be on time.  Other assistant cooks, servers and helpers had arrived;  Pastor Judson Waldrop,   Bill Filmore,  Charlie Wigglesworth, Danny Mione, Lucas Waldrop, Clay McCall, Zack and Collin Griffin, Skyler Pruitt, Caleb Johnson, Denford, & Nick Cyr.  The sun came out about 9:30 (another praise the Lord) and stayed out until about 10:30.  At 10:00 O'clock and on time Blessings were said and food was officially being served.  Daleville served Buffalo steaks, catfish, hush puppies, brim, chicken gizzards and livers, Mulligan (or some kind off camp stew), sausage and rice. Other Churches were serving various kinds of meat and prepared food . not sure what all I was sampling, but it was cooked and prepared well. I was surprised to find one station had real banana pudding.  ( I had some of that!)

On time 11:00 O'clock the food stations are closed and the program continues in the big tent.  The scheduled  guest speaker was Lonnie Cochran; The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Wiregrass Area Director and Campus Director at Troy University.  Not sure about the numbers;  it rained last year and caused the turn out o be less than 2010 and I think the numbers this year were less than last year. (Take a look at the pictures) Colvin Dixon said, "coming and going and counting everyone we may have had upwards of 2,000 attending"  WOW,  Anyway praise the Lord, all went well;  A big thanks to all who participated and especially those who worked and put it all together.  I just want  to thank you, thank You Lord.

Don’t forget about our Brotherhood breakfast meeting the 2nd Saturday of each month, 8:30 at Larry's BBQ.>

God Bless you and yours. Brother Carl
